Author of Fluminense’s beautiful goal in the 1-0 win over Flamengo, Igor Julião gave an interview after the final whistle. The right-back explained the celebration with a raised fist. According to him, it is a tribute to the position of the club during the pandemic and also a criticism of CBF
– The inspiration was due to the attitude that Fluminense always had during the pandemic. The team we choose to support is also a political act. It was to praise the attitude that Fluminense had during the pandemic. We know how difficult it is, even with the flawed protocol that CBF has with us, to get players to travel on regular flights throughout the year. Therefore, to exalt Fluminense’s position in a pandemic because not everyone is taking a coherent position.

For Julião, Fluminense managed to cope with pressure from Flamengo. Even with less ball possession and not half the opponent’s spikes, Flu did better on the most important stat that counts in soccer.
– We knew how to suffer. Most of the time Flamengo was better than us, but we knew how to suffer and we took the opportunity we had. This first victory motivates us for the rest of the competition. And Professor Roger has a star, he debuted with a victory that could help us.
With the result, Fluminense gets the first victory in the Carioca Championship and leaves the bluff of the competition. Tricolor is now in eighth place, with three points from three games. The next game of the Flu will be against Bangu, 9:05 pm (from Brasília), for the fourth round of the State.
