Ibaneis decides to decree confinement in Mexico City from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., on Monday

Governor Ibaneis Rocha (MDB) decided to decree a closure throughout the Federal District, starting on Monday (29), from 8 pm to 5 am. Only essential services will be allowed to function.

“We are going to close everything except essential services,” the governor confirmed a moment ago. Power diary, pointing out that more drastic measures can be adopted if the blockade does not have the necessary effects. “Let’s start in the least serious way,” he said.

In the period of 5 to 20 hours everything remains as it is. “I’ll decide after checking the security conditions,” he said. “I want the safety of the population,” he reaffirmed.

Government employees in the DF who are not essential will be relocated to work remotely, the central office, according to him.

Ibaneis Rocha made this decision after being informed of the occupancy record of 92% of the ICUs reserved for Covid-19 patients, in the Federal District. The decree will be published in the Official Gazette.

“It was a very difficult decision,” admits the governor, known for making decisions without hesitation, “because it affects the lives of many people.” But it was necessary.

Since the start of the pandemic a year ago, the DF has registered 293,782 cases, with 282,169 recovered patients, including the governor himself and his deputy, Paco Brito, and various officials. In all, there were 4,805 deaths.

With 6,608 active cases of the disease, at the moment there are only 67 empty ICU beds.

The Federal District has maintained a good level of vaccination against Covid-19. To date, 119,747 people have been immunized.
