The programmer Jair Akson Reis Canhête, 25, attacked by Guilherme Marques Filho, a sergeant of the Fire Department, last Friday (12/18), revealed to the mail that even if the attack had more serious consequences, he would not regret taking action against the case of harassment of a woman in the subway.
“I would do it all over again, because it’s not about knowing the person or not. We need to act in this troubled world we live in. Do our part. At that moment, I remembered my sister being bullied on the subway. I thought about my mother who uses the transport, about my friends, ”he said.
The young man also added that despite the seriousness of the situation, he never lost patience at any time and that this was essential so that the situation did not worsen.
He was chased, attacked and threatened by Guilherme after interfering and trying to help a girl that the sergeant harassed at the exit of the subway car, at the Praça do Relógio station. The programmer says he was disembarking when he saw the man run his hand through the girl’s hair and look back, making expressions of sexual connotation.
Disgusted with the scene, Jair decided to act and be satisfied with the suspect. The girl was scared by the situation and said she did not know Guilherme, in addition to reinforcing her discomfort and nervousness with the harassment she suffered.
Gun in hand
As soon as he was confronted, Guilherme approached him and proposed to draw his weapon, when the subway security guards approached him and identified himself as a military firefighter. “I walked away and let the security guards figure it out, I started to leave and he followed me.”
The subway security team alerted Jair and asked him to wait before going home. After 15 minutes, the programmer left the station and was approached by Guilherme, who was waiting for him in hiding and began to chase him. “He had his gun pointed in my direction. I turned my back on him because I thought he wouldn’t have the courage to shoot me like that ”.
Jair ran and entered a store thinking that the attacker would not follow him and that he could call the police. But when he saw that Guilherme did not stop. He decided to position himself in front of the cameras, so that, in the worst case, his family could seek justice.
After the attack, Guilherme left “as if nothing had happened.” Jair made a police report, took security footage from store cameras and is seeking justice. The young man also calls on the harassed girl to get in touch or also to file a police report for the sexual assault suffered. “I could not speak to her, but her complaint is one more way to do justice,” he adds.
OR mail He tried to contact Guilherme, but got no response.
