“Blood came out, he was blind,” 25-year-old veterinarian José Bernardino Prado Lo Pinto said in a statement to the Civil Police, who killed 41-year-old former brother-in-law Erick Wagner Batista Inserra. The case occurred yesterday afternoon (2), in Travessa Dunas, in the Monte Castelo neighborhood, in Campo Grande. Erick’s son was in the house and witnessed the crime.

According to the arrest record in flagrante delicto, José reported in testimony that Erick and his sister separated almost 1 year ago and since then they have fought a lot over the family and both assets.

Erick, according to José’s testimony, had put all his assets in the name of the ex, a situation that generated many fights and began to involve the whole family after the couple’s relationship ended. Due to the attacks he suffered from Erick, his sister had a protective measure.

In addition, he reported, the former brother-in-law began to threaten his mother and question him. The threats were made by WhatsApp, messenger and calls. He also reported that he could not take any more threats or fights. The family was already saturated, including Erick’s son, who no longer wanted to be with his father, according to José’s statement to police.

Yesterday afternoon, Erick went to look for his son at the house where he lives with his mother. The interrogator then left with his nephew to hand over his father. However, the boy remembered that he had forgotten about the video game and uninstalled the device again. When he was alone with his ex-brother-in-law, according to his reports to the police, Erick got angry and started offending him by saying, “What are you looking at, shit, shit, I already got you.”

It was at this point, according to the interrogator, that the blood rose. Then he entered the house and came back armed. He showed the revolver to Erick and then began firing. He said he was very “nervous, blind”, ran after his former brother-in-law and fired, and even with the victim lying on the ground, he fired another shot.

Erick was killed with at least four shots. He also reported that the 22-caliber revolver used in the murder had been in the family for generations. After the crime, he threw the fired capsules and called the police. José did not escape, did not hide the weapon and was arrested in flagrante delicto for murder. Erick’s son, who was not of legal age, witnessed the crime. The victim died on the spot.

José will undergo a custody hearing in court on Thursday (3), to determine if he will be detained pending the investigation or if he can respond in freedom.
