“I wanted to be a chef,” says the brother of a young man who died coming out of the waterfall.

“He was an honest, sweet and kind person. There was no evil, ”describes Felipe Douglas Rodrigues, 29, one of Amauri Rodrigues de Souza’s brothers, 23, who was murdered on Monday afternoon (9/28), after being shot while leaving Cachoeira das Três Quedas, near the Gama.

The young man was accompanied by his girlfriend, 20, when he was hit by a shotgun. The case is being investigated by the Federal District Civil Police (PCDF) as robbery – robbery with death. Felipe is Amauri’s older brother and describes him as a “wonderful person”. “This world was not made for him, because he was a calm boy, without malice, ready to help everyone,” he says.

This Friday, Amauri went out with his girlfriend to go to the waterfall and have fun. Upon leaving the scene, the couple were approached by a man armed with a shotgun. The suspect reportedly announced the robbery and asked for the young man’s cell phone and bicycle.

“The victim gave him the bicycle and the passenger had not yet passed the cell phone. When he was with the bicycle, the criminal was startled and was going to drop it to the ground. the suspect thought that the young man could be reacting to the robbery and fired a shotgun, ”explained Pablo Aguiar, head of the delegation of Police Station 27 (Recanto das Emas).

The young man came to the rescue and was sent to the Emergency Unit (UPA) of Recanto das Emas, but he could not resist his injuries and died. “My mother had come back from work and around 2:30 pm she got the call about what happened. When she arrived at the UPA, the social worker went to speak with her, saying that her condition was serious and that she had already had three cardiac arrests, ”said Felipe.

Career and dreams

Amauri Rodrigues had an arduous routine and discovered a passion for gastronomy, so much so that he wanted to become a chef. In the morning, she was taking a computer science course at the Taguatinga Technical School (ETB). In the afternoon, the young man undertook a waiter internship at Coco Bambu, in the DF Plaza shopping center and, in the evening, he took a waiter course at the National Business Learning Service (Senac).

“I had dreams, goals, plans and a career. He wanted to be a chef and was planning to join the gastronomy course. Here at home, he even made some different dishes and drinks, ”said the brother.

The victim lived with her parents in Recanto das Emas and, in addition to Felipe, she had a 19-year-old sister. Amauri’s girlfriend is in shock. The young man’s burial will take place this Wednesday (9/30), at 11 am, in the Campo da Esperança cemetery in Asa Sul.
