A former girlfriend of Rio de Janeiro councilor Doutor Jairinho (Solidariedade), who testified against him after learning of the death of the boy Henry Borel earlier this month, said she had “the worst days of my life with him.” She and her daughter, now 13, were beaten up by the MP at a time when the two were in a relationship.

The message, in which he relates the experience, was sent last week to Leniel Borel, the boy’s father. Rede Globo had exclusive access to the text, sent by a social network.

In the conversation, the witness says that he regrets the death of the child and says that he was negligent at the time the attacks occurred. “But I was very scared. Really,” he wrote.

“I spent the worst days of my life with him. And today I can not look my daughter in the eyes for everything he did and I did not see him. I blame myself every day of my life,” he concluded.

In testimony to the police, she said she felt intimidated when she received a call from Jairinho days after the boy’s death. According to her, they had not spoken in eight years, since the relationship ended.
