RIO – An employee of a hotel in Barra da Tijuca, Rio’s West Zone, was arrested after a guest reported him for abuse. The victim, a tourist who was in Rio for a work course, filed a complaint with the 16 DP (Barra da Tijuca) after the unit’s messenger entered his room without authorization and abused. The case was registered as a rape and the arrest was made on Monday 19.
Closed-circuit television cameras recorded the action carried out by 37-year-old employee Fabio de Oliveira de Barros, to whom the Globo TV report on “Bom Dia Rio” had access. The victim, who did not want to be identified, was at the reception of the Hotel Americas Barra around 9:00 p.m. She did not feel well, she felt ill and she came with a friend. Both were received by the messenger, who, according to the report, placed obstacles for the companion to take the guest to the room.

First, Fábio went to the bedroom and knocked on the door several times. Without answers, he left the place and moments later returned with a magnetic card. From there, he would spend three minutes in the room with the victim, according to security camera records.
The guest said she was surprised by the man’s access to the room when she heard the sound of the door opening. The hotel employee then introduced himself as the victim’s friend’s driver. He said he went looking for news, as the woman was worried. With that, he approached the victim, until he found the opportunity to touch his private parts.
– I trusted that a person would not come to do something with me. Then he came down and kept saying “Look, your friend is worried. Are you really okay?” At that, he lowered his hand. He went, bent down and rubbed my private parts. He passed his hand. In that, I had the reflex to kick him, reported the victim.
Fábio was startled by the reaction and hurried out of the room.
The victim said she was worried and scared about what might happen after the man left:
– And I was like: “Now what? I can’t sleep because this man has access and I won’t leave the room from here. Why if he comes back? If he kills me?” It is understood? I was very scared. And then I stayed up all night. I spent the night staring at the door.
The deputy Henrique Damasceno, of the 16 PD, told “Bom Dia Rio” that his team had access to the hotel to collect the evidence, such as the images recorded by the cameras and the development of the investigation.
– From the first moment we realized this, the teams went to the hotel. There we obtained these images from the internal monitoring circuit, we also requested location expertise and all the other measures that are necessary so that all the evidence is stored, properly collected, precisely to hold the author responsible – said the delegate.
According to “RJ TV 1”, from TV Globo, Fábio’s arrest in flagrante delicto occurred at his home, in Tanque, in the West Zone of Rio. He preferred to remain silent.
In a note, the Civil Police said that “the arrest was carried out by police officers from the DP 16 (Barra da Tijuca), this Monday (10/19). According to the agents, the victim arrived at the unit, registered the incident and reported that the offender worked as a messenger in a hotel in Barra da Tijuca, West Zone of Rio. According to investigations, he used a key to enter the room where she was staying. “
