Whoever looks at the before and after photo hardly believes that it is the same person. But only two hours separate the moment between the image on the left and the one on the right (above). The man with the cropped hair, the neatly trimmed beard and the straight clothes is the homeless man João Coelho Guimarães, 45. For at least three years he has spent most of his time walking the streets of the Setor Marista region in Goiânia (GO), collecting cans to survive.
Unable to take care of his appearance or buy new clothes, the man often relies on the help of neighbors and shopkeepers in the neighborhood to feed himself. And it was precisely during another working day through the streets of the neighborhood that the man was pleasantly surprised and left a converted commercial establishment.
Entrepreneur Alessandro Lobo is a country singer and due to the pandemic, his shows were canceled, which made him dedicate himself more to business in recent months. Alessandro reports that last Saturday (12), the tramp visited his store in the morning, as he did every day.
“He came and asked if he was hungry and wanted something to eat. But he declined and asked if we had a razor so he could trim his beard. That’s when we had a ‘snap’ and everyone in the store decided to help – in a different way, giving him a day of beauty ”, explains the businessman. Twitter.
Like any other client, João was invited to enter the store, which gathers men’s fashion items and offers hairdressing and tailoring services, and received the best treatment. He had a beard, hair, and mustache, in addition to earning lunch. Then he received three shirts, pants, a jacket and new shoes.
“He is a very shy person and of few words. But we noticed his look of satisfaction and he thanked us very much,” says Alessandro.
Also according to the businessman, the idea arose to photograph the change in the look of the homeless person and publish it on social networks with the intention of inspiring other entrepreneurs to also help those in need.
“It’s Christmas and the intention was to show that with little we can change someone’s life. That you have to do good without looking at whom. We did not imagine that it would have this repercussion ”, adds the businessman and singer.
Reported dead by family
After the photo of the homeless man went viral on social networks with the before and after, his family, who lives in Brasilia (DF), recognized him and traveled to Goiânia tomorrow to try to find him after ten years.
“His mother and sister are coming. They already gave him up for dead because they had not known about Seu José for more than 10 years. They saw the photo and contacted me and, as he has no telephone or fixed address, tomorrow we will go through the neighborhood to try to find him, ”explains Alessandro.
“How much emotion, we are very happy!”, Says the singer.
