The Ministry of Justice and Public Security reported today the death of the police officer Renato de Oliveira Souza, a member of the National Public Security Force who piloted the helicopter that crashed in the Porto Jofre region, in the municipality of Poconé (MT), October 8. .
Renato was part of Operation Pantanal II, to fight fires. In addition to him, in the helicopter were co-pilot Luiz Fernando Berberick, from the Rio de Janeiro Civil Police, and Second Sergeant Emerson Miranda Martins, from the Rio de Janeiro Military Police. They are both on the mend.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Justice, Renato underwent spinal surgery and, after being discharged, he moved to Rio de Janeiro, where he was in the process of recovery. The cause of death was not reported.

“With deep regret, the Ministry of Justice and Public Security reports the death, on the morning of Tuesday (27), of the police officer Renato de Oliveira Souza, a member of the National Public Security Force.
Renato was piloting the National Force helicopter that crashed in Mato Grosso on October 8, while fighting fires in the Pantanal. He underwent spinal surgery and, after being discharged, he moved to Rio de Janeiro, where he was in the process of recovery.
The Special Agent of the Civil Police of the Federal District, Renato Oliveira Souza, joined the National Public Security Force in May 2016, in the Aviation Section, where he was commander.
He worked in several states, commanding the National 01 aircraft. Among the numerous operations he provided in the National Force, the Rio 2016 Olympics and Brumadinho (MG) stand out. The last action of the National Force was in Operation Pantanal II, in Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul.
