He went crazy with the weather. Yesterday, when the thermometers reached 38.4 ° C, on the hottest day in the history of Belo Horizonte, the neighbors were surprised by the wind and rain in some parts of the capital. The phenomenon was repeated in other cities in the Central Region, such as Mariana and Ouro Preto, where the population lived with strong heat and rain.

The meteorologist Ruibran dos Reis, from Climatempo, explains that the “crazy weather” is due to the wave of hot and atmospheric variation, which results in the formation of wind storms. According to him, high temperatures followed by rain should be repeated today. Likewise, in the coming days new records will be broken in the marks of thermometers in the capital and in the interior of Minas.

“The strong heat organized isolated storms in the south of Minas and in the Zona da Mata. It rained in Ouro Preto and Mariana – we had heavy rains in these places and also in Manhumirim, Manhuau and Alto Jequitib. We also had hailstorms in the Zona da Mata. This is due to the heat and availability, the famous summer rains that occur in the late afternoon, ”said the meteorologist.
He explained that the storm yesterday in the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte (RMBH) was caused by in atmosfrica. “Strong winds were formed due to the variation in atmospheric pressure. And to have this atmospheric pressure there has to be a temperature variation. Then, due to this variation in temperature, the air rose, which organized the gale, especially in the highest points of the capital, ”Ruibran reported.

Even so, according to him, the forecast is that the strong heat will continue, and it is possible that there will also be rains in the coming days. “We may have new records of temperatures in the capital and in the interior of Minas, mainly, tomorrow (today) and Friday. The hot air mass continues to act in the state. These rains that occurred today (yesterday) were only occasional, ”he said.

According to Ruibran dos Reis, today there is the possibility of the so-called “summer rains” in the south of Minas and in the regions of Campo das Vertentes, Zona da Mata and in the central region of the state. He said that more intense rains capable of causing a drop in temperature can only occur from Sunday, “with the arrival of a cold front.”

Before the record of 38.4 ° C set yesterday afternoon in Belo Horizonte, the strongest day in Belo Horizonte was last Saturday, day 3, when the thermometers marked 37.8 °, surpassing the 37.4 ° C recorded in 2015. Yesterday morning, BH broke the record for the highest minimum temperature of the year, 23.9 ° C. Generally, the coldest (or, in this case, the least hot) times of the day are recorded between the end of the morning and the early morning. Air humidity levels remained low yesterday, between 20 and 30%.

… Missing guide to RMBH

In two municipalities of the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte, the heat is aggravated by the lack of water in homes and commercial establishments. The problem started in September but got worse in the last week. In Pedro Leopoldo, the neighborhoods in the northern region of the city have been without continuous supply for five days. The attorney general of the municipality, Cristiano Fonseca Pereira, reported that the municipal administration filed a Public Civil Action on Tuesday against the Companhia de Saneamento de Minas Gerais (Copasa), in which it demands the immediate restoration of the continuous supply of water in the city. City. In Lagoa Santa, in several houses of the Mirante do Fidaldo condominium, only air passes through the water register. Copasa reported that the supply cuts in RMBH are “specific.” However, the Company admitted that, at some points, the system is overloaded, which makes the supply irregular. According to Copasa, this is more common in the highlands.
