This week, the Ministry of Health will sign a contract with the Butantan Institute for the purchase of 45 million doses of Coronavac, developed in partnership with the Chinese company Sinovac, according to the Governor of Pará. He also said that the agreement will have a clause that requires that all vaccine production from the research center linked to the São Paulo government be assigned to the National Immunization Plan.
The contracted doses will be delivered gradually from January, reaching the final amount in March, added the head of the Pará Executive, who, like other governors, traveled to Brasilia to launch the national plan. Of the total 45 million, Butantã could make 20 million doses available to the federal government by January 30.
In addition, there is a signal from the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz) to deliver 15 million doses of the vaccine from an alliance between the pharmaceutical AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford, according to the governor of Pará. The forecast reported is that the application for registration of this immunizer is made before the National Agency for Sanitary Surveillance (Anvisa) from January 21 and vaccination with it begins around February 10.
The emedebista also addressed other negotiations of the Ministry of Health, such as the one involving 500,000 doses of the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine, which would depend on the arrival of supplies in Brazil.
“We also have another situation. Depending on a diplomatic dialogue, there is the possibility that between 1 and 2 million doses from the AstraZeneca Laboratory, which develops the Oxford vaccine, will arrive in Brazil, ready for packaging and application, ”added Barbalho.
