The candidate Guti (PSD) was re-elected this Sunday (29) mayor of the city of Guarulhos, in Greater São Paulo, for the next four years. Gustavo Henric Costa won the second round of the elections and defeated Elói Pietá, of the PT, who already ruled Guarulhos for eight years (2001-2008).
According to data from the Superior Electoral Tribunal (TSE), Gustavo Henric Costa had 57.83% of the valid votes compared to 42.17% of the PT candidate. Guarulhos’ election had 23.81% abstention, 4.38% white votes and 10.59% invalid votes.
In the first round, Guti obtained 261,211 votes (45.65% of the votes), compared to 184,502 for Elói Pietá (32.24% of the votes).

“Thanks Guarulhos! We fight the good fight. And I did it because I love this city. Winning and losing elections is part of the democratic game. that is wrong or insufficient. I will always be ready to help the citizen of Guarulhos in what is within my power, even outside the City Hall. Because this is the city and these are the people I love, ”said Pietá.
In a video, Guti thanked the victory in the round of 16 and promised to “keep working much more.”

You can count on us to continue working hard to make the city the way Guarulhense deserves it and how it should be done. Thank you, ”said the re-elected mayor.
In 2016, Guti was elected after 16 years of PT administrations in Guarulhos. At the time, the candidate was 31 years old and the youngest candidate for mayor.
Guarulhos is the second most populous city in the state of São Paulo, with almost 1.4 million inhabitants, it is home to the largest airport in Latin America, which also has the largest cargo terminal in the country.

The party that elected the most parliamentarians was the PSD, which had seven elected parliamentarians out of the 34 available seats in the Guarulhos City Council. The PT won five seats, occupying the second largest bank in the city.
In 2021, Guarulhos will double the number of women in the Chamber. This year 8 out of a total of 34 seats were elected, against 4 in 2016. The wife of candidate Elói Pietá, Janete Pietá, was elected councilor in Guarulhos with 6,461 votes.
