[ATUALIZAÇÃO]: Apparently it was all a hoax. Montreal police said they could not identify a threat and evacuated the building.

[Original]: Ubisoft is without a doubt one of the most loved companies in the world. With several much-loved franchises, the huge French company has countless locations around the world. Unfortunately, the popularity of the company makes it susceptible to various kinds of acts, good or bad. This afternoon (13), the company’s office in Montreal (Canada) was invaded by armed men. So far the news is that there is a hostage situation at the scene. Surprisingly, specialized security units quickly arrived on the scene and are doing everything they can to get everyone safely out of the building.

Fortunately, a considerable number of employees were not present in the building today. Most of them were at home working in Home Office mode. According to Twitter reports, some employees have managed to escape onto the roof, while others hide under tables or in places like bathrooms. So far there is no information on the specific attack and its motivation. City police said they received a call about an attempted robbery at a commercial building.

Eric Pope, one of the studio’s senior designers, posted the following image on his Twitter:

For Eric, the image is terrifying and creates a huge sense of insecurity. The people on the roof are part of your team and are close friends. At Manual we are sympathetic to the situation and we are encouraging that everything goes well and that no one gets hurt. It’s a shame that people don’t even have security in their workspaces.

The course of the attack on Ubisoft

As mentioned above, there is still no information on the motivation for the attack and its outcome. We will update the story as soon as new information is released. Stay tuned to our website and networks for updates on this serious matter!
