Surprisingly, the Minister of Economy, Paulo Guedes, participated in the interview in which the results of the General Registry of Employees and Unemployed (Caged) for the month of August are released. With a result of 249,388 formal jobs open, it was the best August since 2010.

The minister took the opportunity to reaffirm the foundations of the economic program and reaffirm that the new income program will not break the spending ceiling.

“We are announcing the largest job creation since August 2010,” he celebrated. “We had said that we expected a recovery in ‘V'”. He added that there was job creation in all sectors.

The minister highlighted the success of BEm, the program that made it possible to temporarily suspend employment contracts and proportionally reduce working hours and wages. For good results, he says, the program was extended for another two months.

According to data from Caged, the industry stood out for generating employment. “We are going to reindustrialize Brazil,” Guedes said. “We are getting back on track.”

He added that the economic program continues and that the government will send the new stages of the tax reform to Congress. “We are going to simplify taxes,” he said.

The minister emphasized the role of Pronampe, which finances micro and small businesses and, according to him, made the money go to the base. “It was an extraordinary success,” he said.

Civil construction, he said, kept economic activity “pulsing” during the crisis. In the last two months, Caixa has registered the largest expansion of real estate credit in recent history, he said.

“We said we were going to surprise the world,” he said.

According to Guedes, Congress continues to push for reforms and President Jair Bolsonaro is supporting economic policy, he said.
