Governor Fatima Bezerra (PT) announced on Friday (26) that Rio Grande do Norte will have a “curfew” between 10 pm and 5 am. Classes in the schools will also be suspended.
The measure will be published in a decree in the Official State Gazette (DOE) this Saturday (27) and will be in effect for the next 15 days.
“The central measure is the curfew. The decree establishes the curfew between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. the next day. It means that from this time the movement of people through Rio Grande do Norte is prohibited,” said the governor. in an interview with Nurse 2, gives Inter TV Cabugi.
In relation to schools, Fátima Bezerra (PT) said that “in what is the responsibility of the State, teaching activities in public and private state schools are suspended, with the exception of only initial and primary grades 1”.
In addition to these two measures, the manager announced the suspension of religious activities. “They may only work for individual prayers and services, but religious activities in churches of worship, among others, will be suspended,” said Fatima Bezerra.
The governor also announced the suspension of all kinds of parties and events of any kind.
“Unfortunately, today we are experiencing one of the most dramatic moments, not only here in Rio Grande do Norte, but throughout Brazil. We are experiencing collapse at the national level.”

According to Regula RN, a platform that monitors hospitalizations in the state in real time, Rio Grande do Norte has 86% of critical beds occupied, with Greater Natal being the region of greatest concern, with 89%. The consultation took place this Friday (26) at 6:45 pm.
On Thursday (25), the governor admitted that the health system of Greater Natal collapsed and asked the mayors of the municipalities more rigid measures to prevent this from spreading to other regions and worsening even more in the Metropolitan Region.
The newsletter of the State Department of Public Health (Sesap) this Friday (26) indicates that the RN has 415 people hospitalized in critical beds in the state, one less than on Thursday (25), when the state smashed a new record of hospitalizations since the beginning of the pandemic. The highest number reached in the first wave had been 363 people, on June 28.
In addition to those hospitalized in clinical beds, there are currently 761 patients, the highest number ever recorded. The bulletin also indicates that 100% of the critical beds of the private network statewide are occupied. There are no more vacancies.
An example of this is that some patients have not even managed to be hospitalized. On Thursday, a 93-year-old woman had to be intubated in the ambulance after five hours without receiving care at a private hospital.
Private hospitals are full in Natal and patients await care
With no vacancies in Grande Natal, patients are being flown into the state. At least seven have already been hospitalized in beds in Caicó, Mossoró and Pau dos Ferros. In total, added to the ambulance transfers, 31 people were regulated in the last days of the Great Christmas to the interior for lack of vacancies.

In addition, there is a 60% increase in hospitalization for people under 60 years of age. Currently, almost half of those hospitalized in critical beds are not elderly.
The overcrowding of hospitals in Grande Natal is also reflected in the Emergency Care Units (UPA), which already operate above 100% occupancy. For the scenario, the Natal Municipal Health Department decided to make the 30 clinical beds of Hospital dos Pescadores exclusively for patients with Covid-19.

The announcement of restrictions in Rio Grande do Norte follows what has been happening in other regions of the country, such as in the capital of São Paulo; in Araraquara, in the interior of São Paulo; at bay; in Paraná; and Rio Grande do Sul.
On the morning of this Friday (26), the Government of RN published an ordinance recommending the suspension of the external face-to-face service in the organs and entities of the direct and indirect state public administration due to the worsening of the pandemic in the Express.
