The increase in covid-19 cases throughout the country made the government of Minas Gerais decide to prohibit the holding of soccer matches in other states on land mines. Governor Romeu Zema (NOVO-MG) announced today (16) measures to combat the pandemic and instituted the purple wave in all regions of MG starting tomorrow.

“It would be very inconsistent for us to take such a harsh and restrictive measure as the one we are taking in the state and allow games from other states to be held here in Minas Gerais, remembering that, in the purple wave, hotels cannot receive tourists. No it is feasible. to receive games from other states in the violet wave. By definition, it will not allow this circulation. In the circulation between states, the sanitary barriers will address whether they go to essential services or not, “said the Secretary of State for Health of Minas Gerais Gerais, Fábio Baccheretti, at a press conference at the Minas Gerais government headquarters.

There are five out-of-state games pre-scheduled for minefield stadiums in the coming days. Two matches of the U-20 Brazil Cup are scheduled for today: Trem-PA x Avaí and Real Ariquemes-RO x Náutico, in Sesc Venda Nova, in Belo Horizonte. Tomorrow there would be a duel of the Paulista Championship, between São Bento and Palmeiras, and another two of the Brazil Cup: Marília x Cricúma, in Varginha, and Palmas x Avaí, in Belo Horizonte. On Thursday, Caldense would host Vasco in a match valid for the Copa do Brasil.

“The violet wave is mandatory. Every municipality must adhere to the recommendation. That way, football will not be able to work, because of the obviousness of the moment and hotels will not work,” Baccheretti said.

“Remember that, in Onda Roxa, hotels cannot receive tourists, so it is not feasible to receive games from another state. Onda Roxa itself, by definition, will not allow this circulation. Health barriers will prevent these people from seeing if they go to essential services. If they go to essential services, they can proceed, if they are not notified to return ”, reiterated the governor.

Despite the decision, it will still be necessary to define new guidelines on the Mineiro Championship, which does not have a guarantee of continuity for the moment either.

“We really consider the maintenance of any type of game to be inconsistent. We will discuss with the associations to reach some conclusion in this regard. The game is not only the permanence of the player on the field of play and the health risks of that. We will evaluate what throughout the day on that ”, completed the secretary.

According to the sports The Minas Gerais Soccer Federation (FMF) decides to comply with what the Minas Gerais Health Secretariat (SES) determines, which has not yet defined whether the Mineiro Championship will stop or not.
