The government appealed to the Federal Court of Accounts (TCU) against the court’s decision to present a vaccination plan against Covid-19.

TCU’s decision is in August and it gave a deadline for the presentation of the plan until last week. The government appeal, signed by the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation (AGU), is from September and was revealed in a report this Tuesday (24) of the daily “Valor Econômico”.

The TCU ordered the government to detail the planning for the purchase, production and distribution of vaccine doses. He also asked for information on vaccination logistics.

The government did not present the plan and claimed that the TCU’s decision contains an error. According to the appeal, the court should not have listed the Civil House together with the Ministry of Health as one of the bodies that would be in charge of planning vaccination. This assignment, according to the AGU, is exclusive to the ministry.

“It is also true that it is not up to the Civil House to draw up plans or implement the national health policy and government actions for the production and / or acquisition of vaccines, as well as for the immunization of the population in general. And despite the planning. In this regard, it can be said that it will demand the action of various sectoral bodies, which cannot justify, give it a go, interference in the institutional competencies of the Ministry of Health, ”the government stated.

In the appeal, the AGU recognizes the importance of presenting a vaccine plan, but asks the TCU to reform the order. The appeal must be considered in full court in the coming days, and the tendency is for ministers to deny the AGU’s request.
