The new Chromecast stands out precisely for the presence of the new operating system. Google TV promises to facilitate the user experience when selecting content to watch, regardless of the chosen streaming service. The accessory supports resolutions up to 4K and features such as HDR 10+, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, for audio and video enhancements.

The simple interface will present a “watch later” list, allowing you to save videos, movies, or series from your Android phone to watch on TV when you get home, for example. The system offers the main streaming services on the market, especially Netflix and YouTube, which even have quick access buttons on the remote control.

Another “novelty” is the brand’s Ambient Mode, following something that already happens in Chromecast 3 and its predecessors: the user can choose photos from the phone’s gallery, for example, and display them on the big screen. This integration isn’t that different from the Android TV sleep screen, but the promise is faster and easier setup.

In addition to Google TV, the remote control that comes with the new Chromecast is also striking. Through it, it is easier to select what to watch without having to have the phone nearby at all times. The accessory also has a button to activate the Google Assistant, which controls both playback and other connected home devices integrated with the Google Home system.

The design has also changed, bringing a more oval shape compared to its predecessors. As for the color options, the black (or gray) of the other generations fell: the device appears in white, light blue or salmon, which should give a different touch when plugged into the TV.

It is not yet known when exactly the product reaches the Brazilian market. During the event, Google said that the new dongle will be available in various countries until the end of 2020, but the brand’s notice in Brazil has not confirmed whether the model will launch here by then. For now, the company’s option in the country to turn TV into smart is due to the Chromecast 3, which appears in retail for only R $ 369.

Google Nest Audio: powerful sound in a smart box

Nest Audio was also revealed during the event. Along with Chromecast, the product had recently leaked images, teasing some hardware information and its promise of good audio playback.

Confirming the rumors, the manufacturer claims that the product has beefed up the bass, outperforming the original Google Home by about 50%, largely due to the 75mm woofer. There is also a 19mm tweeter, which should represent clearer voices when playing, whether in music or when playing television sound, for example.

In addition, there is the main one: integrated Google Assistant, which allows you to control both music and other connected home devices integrated with the Google Home service. The product also follows the same logic of other models in the Nest line, dispensing with the internal battery due to the proposal for more fixed use, as an assistant at home.

Due to these characteristics, it is possible to say that the new “box” competes directly with Echo Studio, Amazon’s smart speaker that already appears in Brazil for R $ 1,699 – despite the lower power of 30 Watts RMS. The Google option hits stores in the United States for the suggested price of $ 99, about $ 557 at current price.

New Pixel 4A with 5G and Pixel 5

Google is betting on 5G internet by announcing the new Google Pixel 5G and Google Pixel 4A 5G phones. The models bring a host of new photographic features, such as night vision during portrait mode, for photos with the desired background blur even in low light.

At the back is the same photographic kit: 12 MP main camera and 16 MP ultra-wide camera, the latter capable of capturing a greater portion of the landscape or a greater number of people. The company did not report the capacity of the front cameras.

Imaging features include Live HDR +, which creates extremely high contrast motion photos; and the cinematographic panorama. Both smartphones use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 765G processor. It is not exactly the most advanced of the company, but it provides a performance between intermediate and advanced.

The Pixel 5 has 8 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage and a 6-inch OLED screen (Full HD +). The Pixel 4A 5G has 6 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage and a 6.2-inch OLED screen (also Full HD +). The batteries are 4,080 mAh and 3,885 mAh, respectively. Like other products, it is not expected to be launched in Brazil.
