GOL pilots go to Miami for test flights in the Boeing 737 MAX

The commander of GOL Linhas Aéreas talks about the flight of the company’s pilots to the US to carry out test flights with the modified Boeing 737 MAX.

The interview was granted by Commander Sérgio Quito, GOL Security Advisor, to William Waack in the CNN Brasil newspaper last night (18).

Waack, who is also an airplane pilot, has his own turboprop and has already flown MiG-29 fighters, asked the captain: “Have you sat in the redesigned cockpit of the Boeing 737 MAX or are you still lacking this experience?”

Commander Quito said that he will embark next week for Miami to carry out the demonstration maneuvers on the jet. Our group of test pilots, who are 20 pilots, has already been trained and will be able to carry out the test flights, which is part of the aircraft’s certification process ”.

Sérgio adds that, according to the reports of his colleagues, the modifications were well accepted and he is confident that the aircraft will return, which according to GOL itself should occur around 30 days after ANAC approval.

It was not clear how these flights will be carried out in Florida, but the expectation is that they will be carried out in Boeing planes, accompanied by professionals from the company, FAA, ANAC and other airlines. Check out the full interview below:
