Framed by a blue wall, Cláudia Abreu reacts to the photographer’s guidance (“Close your eyes and travel. You are a super actress”) and says: “There is shyness when we are. I don’t like taking photos. “She resists being the protagonist. In the role of herself, skillful, she shifts the team’s gaze to a persimmon planted on the terrace of the hotel where the photo session was held, in Lisbon.” I never saw a persimmon tree. Is that the fruit of the account? “He points to another tree.” It’s a magnolia, “says a house employee.” In my normal life, when I need to experience moments of glamor, it is great! But I prefer the simple life: go to the mountains, bathe in a waterfall, read my book in the hammock and watch the cherry blossoms, the ipês and the Lenten trees bloom ”.

A day of celebration of 50 years (“We are not going to make this the focus of the story, none? ”, Appeals), Cláudia talks about the premiere of the series“ Desalma ”, on the 22nd, on Globoplay; the three months of isolation in Secretaria, in the mountainous region of Rio; the season you live in Portugal; direct the orchestra of four children; 23 years of marriage with the filmmaker José Henrique Fonseca; the culture of intimidation that clouds Brazil; and the mourning for his father-in-law Rubem Fonseca, who died of a heart attack six months ago. “It was a beating. We, like so many other families, live confined. It’s a terrible thing. When one is fine, the other is not, ”says Cláudia, who points out that she is in a very sensitive phase. “We lived in the same building, we had a very close relationship. He was a huge figure in everyone’s life. His body could have been 94 years old, but his head was timeless, an ageless man. “

The thud was echoed in the temporary move to Lisbon, where the project will last one year. Portuguese citizenship is part of the legacy left by the writer, whose parents were from Vila Real (a city in the north of Portugal). “There are people who are immobilized in the face of pain or some terrible situation like the pandemic. We went after life ”, he reflects. During his confinement, he painted the idea that his eldest daughter, Maria Maud, 19, was studying music at the School of Technologies, Innovation and Creation, an institution they had visited when they were spending New Year’s Eve in Portugal. The first-born, who is already a singer and plays the guitar, passed the online test and dragged her family. “I really want to live my European experience and let my children mature and leave here with another head.” Part of the decisions was not to take any Brazilian employees. “It doesn’t make sense for you to spend a season in Europe and import the same comfort that I question so much about having someone work for us.” Installed in Lisbon for a month, the actress says she is more Rio than ever. He likes to go with his family to the Torre de Belém on weekends and intends to “get on the electric bike circuit” at Monsanto’s Parque Florestal.

In Rio or Lisbon, for her, there is no more fabulous experience than being a mother of four. In addition to María, Cláudia and her husband are the parents of Felipa, 13, José Joaquim, 10 and Pedro Henrique, 9. “There is a beautiful thing in being the mother of many that is as if I were a director and they were the instruments. Each one asks for an intensity, a cadence. There is a time when you have to ask for one to enter life more and another when you have to take out a little insurance ”, he compares. As director, he practically manages the adaptation of the four in the Portuguese school and school, which since September has resumed face-to-face classes. “I seek harmony in my family and with the people I work with. I tell my children when they mix class at school or now that they are living an experience in a different school that I change groups of friends with each job I do, ”he says.

Married for 23 years with the filmmaker José Henrique Fonseca, with whom he also has an audiovisual production company, Zola Filmes, and has just launched the series “Bom dia, Verônica”, on Netflix, Cacau (for intimates) sees the relationship with ” normal”. “The moment you’re drinking wine, which may not have to do with work, it turns into an interesting conversation that will lead to a creative exchange. And the best thing is that we have many projects together, whether in life, in the production company, in the construction of a house or in the adventure of spending a few months here ”, he lists. “We are like everyone else. We don’t work much together. We made a movie back there and now we have the production company. We create together not necessarily to execute ”, he says. “I want to take advantage of this season to be able to live a different life. I always wanted to live abroad and I never could, because I have been working since I was very little ”, comments, who lived the unforgettable Clara in“ Belly for rent ”(1990), Laura in“ Celebridade ”(2003) and Helô in“ A lei do amor ”. (his most recent soap opera, in 2016).

The version 5.0 of Cláudia Abreu does not romanticize age. “God help me to be perfect, it would be unbearable,” he jokes. “For me, Cacau will always have the strength and energy of 20 years. I will never forget her dancing on a New Year’s Eve that we spent together in Teresópolis, ”says actress Renata Sorrah, a longtime partner on the stage. In turn, the new fiftieth of the piece claims to be understanding of its limits. “He was better before quarantine.” Today, she takes fitness classes online and plans to return to yoga and meditation. He goes to the dermatologist frequently, he does treatments to eliminate blemishes, but he is out of invasive interventions. “It is beautiful to age gently.” Since the age of 18 he has not eaten red meat and is trying to file fish and birds. He gives up, he confesses, on special occasions, like a Japanese dinner. “It’s less for aesthetic reasons and more for conscience,” he says.

The position, for her, is on another level. “If you are not doing a soap opera, people think that you are not doing anything. Many people get paid “, reacts Cláudia, who has two films still unreleased, still undated:” Silence in the rain “, by Daniel Filho, and” Terapia da vingança “(provisional name), by Marcos Berstein. In the first row of projects is the supernatural suspense series “Desalma”, in which he shares a cast with Cassia Kiss and Maria Ribeiro. Set in a fictional city inspired by a Ukrainian colony, the plot is shown in flashbacks. Cláudia is Ignez, a woman who falls from a solar personality to tormented after the death of a relative.

“Cláudia reaches levels she has never seen in terms of drama. There is a character who has psychiatric problems that are not dazzling and obvious, and that is where it is most difficult because they are between the lines ”, analyzes the author of the series, Ana Paula Maia. For the actress, it is essential to talk about the stigma of the person who does psychiatric treatment on television. “If you have physical pain, you go to the doctor and take medications. But if you have a pain in the soul, you are crazy ”.

Scheduled for March 2021, the recording of the second season of “Desalma” is the guarantee of Cláudia’s return to Brazil. “Despite being afraid, I think it is important that people can return to work within a safe protocol,” says the actress, who chooses the word “traitor” to characterize Covid-19. “It is a disease that sometimes passes through some people and others have a completely tragic development. I don’t think anyone is safe anywhere. But in some places the issue has been taken more seriously. “

If the dream of having a simpler life in the countryside seemed unreal, Cláudia lived it during the months of confinement with her family and friend Drica Moraes (“Head of the laundry department”), in her Secretariat home. “We met again by coincidence at the carnival. When gave emergency shutdown, we spent a month together there. I saw Cacau taking care of the four children, in a particular way with each one. Her relationship with Zé is deeply complicit. And we updated our friendship, with talks about life, death, marriage and family, ”says Drica.

The bucolic setting helped the group to go through the quarantine, but it did not free them from the new challenges. “I never imagined that my children would take classes online. It was a rich family experience. But if you are a person with a high bill, you go crazy. For many it is difficult to become a teacher, to deal with the fall of the internet and the demands of the school ”, reflects Cláudia, classifying her feelings as“ ambiguous and opposite ”. “I was in the field and could have turned off the television. But there is no way to ignore what is happening, and I exaggerated to live in a very obsessive way the way in which Brazil was facing it ”, he evaluates. To relax, he marathoned Ingmar Bergman’s films, devoured books, biographies, stories, diaries, and what he saw before Virginia Woolf. “I have an identification with her that goes beyond the literary style. I am surprised that someone who has not lived in my time, not even in my country, has experienced such similar things, “he says. Now he writes about the English author, without yet knowing where he wants to go, and honors his friends who have thrown themselves into virtual theater. “It is a form of double survival. Not only Covid but also cultural politics ”.

Cláudia returns to the Brazilian agenda three times “to express herself with the right words”: “I am in favor of common sense. If you care about culture, education, health, science, the environment, human rights, diversity and diplomacy, it is impossible not to be outraged and not demonstrate. Among the publications on his Instagram account, he addresses topics such as the Pantanal in flames. In the balance of his sign, he balances the lack of haste to return to his home in Leblon, in Rio, and the anguish of not appearing to turn his back on Brazil. Although … “Leblon has embarrassed us,” says Cláudia. The actress rolls her eyes and announces the end of the conversation.
