The Goiás Fire Department rescued on Sunday (27) a 6-year-old girl and her father from a cistern in the family home in Jataí (GO). According to the girl’s father, 46, she jumped into the hole to try to rescue the daughter who had fallen there. However, it ended without leaving. Information is from G1.
According to the Fire Department, the well is estimated to be about 10 meters deep. According to the family’s account of the military, the girl fell instantly while playing in the garage. The lid of the cistern slipped and the girl fell down the hole.
Soon after, her father decided to tie a rope to a pillar in the garage and lower it to the bottom, to try to rescue the girl. However, the rope was not long enough and he ended up having to jump to get to the bottom of the cistern.
Also according to the Fire Department, the military installed equipment to carry out the rescue. The girl and the father were pulled out of the hole. The boy was taken to a city hospital, but only had scratches and was discharged. The father was unhurt.
According to the report of the firefighters to TV Anhanguera, the cistern was active and had water up to a height of almost one meter. They believe it may have cushioned the boy’s fall, although it was not deep enough for him to drown.
