Gang tries to rob banks and exchanges shots with the police in the dawn of terror in Araraquara | São Carlos and Araraquara

A gang made up of about 20 men armed with rifles exchanged fire with the Military Police in Araraquara, in the interior of São Paulo, in an attempt to rob a branch of the Caixa Econômica Federal in the Center and another of the Banco do Brasil, at dawn on Tuesday (24), the Military Police reported.

Videos shared on social networks, which can be seen above, show burning vehicles and the noise of gunfire, which, according to the PM, lasted about 40 minutes. Still no information on injured or detained.

The herd action took place around 2:30 am. A truck and another vehicle were set on fire to try to avoid the reaction of a contingent of a MP battalion in the city. However, the PMs broke the blockade and faced criminals.

As of around 7 a.m., the police had not yet reported whether the gang managed to get money from bank branches.

Specialists from the Special Tactical Actions Group (Gate) were sent to the central region of the city to remove the explosives that were left by the gang inside the Caixa Econômica Federal agency.

OR G1 Caixa and BB were contacted, but have not yet received an official charge about the action in the city.
