The governor of Pará, Helder Barbalho (MDB), said on Wednesday (2) that the gang that robbed a Banco do Brasil branch in Cametá lost the safe and did not take anything from the bank.

“The gang was unsuccessful. At the time of the internal incursion, the gang ended up losing the safe and without taking money from the bank branch,” said the governor.

The attack began shortly before midnight on Wednesday (2). At least 10 criminals took to the streets of the city, which is located 235 km from Belém, to assault the agency, which is located in the same building as the town hall.

The action has characteristics similar to that registered in Criciúma, in the south of Santa Catarina, in the early hours of Tuesday (1), in which a gang also carried out attacks by the municipality in action to rob an agency of Banco do Brasil.

Dynamites were also found at km-40 of BR-422, still in Cametá. Later, at km 80 of the same road, but already in the municipality of Baião, a car was found suspected of having been used in the escape into the Itaperuçu river. Police believe the suspects followed him through the woods from there.

A team from the Scientific Expertise Center will examine the vehicles found to look for fingerprints. Images have also been requested from the security cameras of the nearby surveillance circuits.
