Galaxy S20 Ultra: users complain that the glass that protects the cameras “breaks alone”

As much as it is the most powerful smartphone in Samsung’s portfolio, the Galaxy S20 Ultra is not immune to problems. Recently, we saw that the device had an error leaving the green screen when the user adjusted the brightness to 30%.

Also, Samsung has already confirmed that there is no workaround for the limited focus of the main 108MP sensor. Now, everything indicates that the South Korean manufacturer will have a new headache ahead.

According to reports from various users, the The glass protecting the camera module is “breaking by itself”. The problem began to be reported by some people in recent weeks:

I didn’t do anything big with my S20 Ultra, but it looks like the rear camera glass fails on its own on a beautiful day. This is not something you want to happen with your $ 1,400 (~ $ 7,782) phone.

As time goes by, more reports on the problem accumulate on the Samsung forum. Most users report that they use a good quality cover, did not drop the device, did not hit the camera module against any object, or misused the device.

The problem starts with a small crack in the glass. This ends up limiting the zoom capacity and the crack grows into a real hole. Many users discuss the theory of a possible design flaw.

For now, Samsung recognizes the problem as cosmetic damage and this is not covered by the device warranty. Therefore, the user must pay US $ 100 (~ R $ 555) for the repair if he is a Premium Care member. The others pay up to US $ 400 (~ R $ 2,223).

Until now, the giant South Korea did not comment.. In any case, this is not a major problem, that is, it affects only a small portion of Galaxy S20 Ultra users.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra is not yet available in Brazilian stores. To be notified when it arrives.
