Data sheet

Samsung officially announced on Wednesday (23) the Galaxy S20 FE cell phone. The model follows in the footsteps of the S20 line, launched at the beginning of the year, with some major changes to the finish and specifications of the screen and camera.

Like the Galaxy S10 Lite for the S10 family, the S20 FE inherits the main components of the original S20 line: the phone features the same eight-core processor and the 5G connection option.

Design & Canvas

The Galaxy S20 FE forgoes the glass finish on the rear, more specifically the Gorilla Glass on the original S20, in exchange for a plastic coating, just like the newly launched Galaxy Note 20. Samsung notes, however, that the material received a texture that reduces fingerprints and smudges.

Apart from that, the look of the device is not much different from other mobile phones of the latest Galaxy S and Note lines, with a rectangular camera module on the back.

The front of the Galaxy S20 FE presents another change in relation to the S20, leaving aside the screen that goes to the sides of the device for a more traditional component, with visible edges. The change is the same adopted on the S10 Lite and Note 10 Lite models, and it may give the impression of being a less advanced device for some people.

Speaking on the screen, the component maintains the main features presented in the original S20, with an AMOLED panel and its traditional good color level and refresh rate of 120 Hz. In the case of the Galaxy S20 FE, the model has a 6.5 screen. inches, measured about 6.7 for the S20 +, resulting in similar dimensions for the device when considering the edges.

Although the screen is close to the size used in the S20 +, the resolution in the S20 FE is lower, at 1080 x 2400 pixels (Full HD +) versus 1440 x 3200 pixels (Quad HD +), which it should result in less battery consumption.

Drums

The battery of the Galaxy S20 FE has a capacity of 4,500 mAh, the same as that of the S20 +, which should be sufficient for most users (excluding game addicts). The model supports wired and wireless fast charging and includes a 15W charger in the box, despite being compatible with 25W wired charging.

An interesting feature of the S20 FE is the reverse charge function, popularized by the S10 and S20 models, which allows you to recharge other devices by proximity. The function is not only for mobile phones, but also for other devices that are compatible with the Qi standard: wireless headphones and smart watches, for example.

Camera

The Galaxy S20 FE photo set features three cameras: 12 megapixel main, 12 MP wide angle and 8 MP telephoto. Despite lacking high-resolution sensors like 64 or 108 megapixels, the S20 FE pays off with the promise of good performance in low-light scenes.

One of the camera highlights on the S20 FE is the telephoto lens that accompanies the “humble” 8-megapixel sensor. The component offers a 3x optical zoom, which may be more interesting to some users than the 64 megapixels of the same camera in the original Galaxy S20, and can be combined with digital zoom for a total magnification of 30x.

Other features, such as night photography mode, 4K video recording, photos during video recording, and advanced modes, are available on the S20 FE, courtesy of the processor and One UI 2.5 customization.

Additional features

Samsung’s skin is applied over the Android 10 operating system, providing a familiar look to owners of other branded devices. The system also includes integration with Microsoft services such as Office family applications and OneDrive online storage.

The Galaxy S20 FE also has other advantages of the Samsung-Microsoft partnership, such as the Xbox Game Pass application (but without the subscription to the platform’s streaming service) and integration with the Windows 10 Your Phone service, which allows you to open the Applications. phone on the computer.
