The Fire Department confirmed today that it found the body of Gabriel da Silva Alexandre, 15 years old, missing since Sunday (29) after drowning with his brother, 13 years old, on Maresias beach in São Sebastião. (SP). Guilherme da Silva Alexandre’s funeral took place today.
The body was located around 5:30 pm, near entrance 10 of the beach – Gabriel disappeared at door 8. The body of the teenager was transferred to the São Sebastião Legal Medical Institute, where relatives who remained on the coast confirmed that It was from the boy. .
The news was received by the rest of the family after Guilherme’s burial, held today in Indaiatuba (SP), Campinas region, from where a group of 20 people left on Sunday to knock-back on the beach. Guilherme drowned on Sunday. He came to the rescue, but has already reached the hospital dead.
Gabriel will be buried tomorrow in Cemitério Parque dos Indaiás, the same place where his brother was buried.
The group went to the beach on the weekend.
According to GBMAR (Agrupación de Bomberos Marítimos), the brothers and two other friends were playing in the sea, around 6:20 am, at the time of entry 8, when they were swept away by a return current – a flow of water that Hit the beach and come back to the bottom of the sea pulling the bathers – and could not return to the strip of sand.
“I told them to be careful and I was always looking. Suddenly I realized that the boys had their arms raised,” said the teens’ mother, Vanessa Aparecida da Silva, who has three other children.
A surfer who was on the beach managed to help two of the young men, but when he returned to the sea to rescue the brothers, he no longer found them. The body of the 13-year-old boy was found around 9:30 am, near the place where he would have disappeared.
Also according to GBMAR, the brothers are from Indaiatuba, in the interior of São Paulo, and they arrived at the beach around 4:30 am, on an excursion with the family.
Irregular tourism
In a note, the city of São Sebastião reported that “one-day tourism”, like the one on the excursion that the brothers were doing, is irregular on Maresias beach. See the full statement:
