Federal deputy Ricardo Barros (PP), former minister of health, tested positive for the new coronavirus. The information was confirmed by the politician on a social network on Saturday night (25).

In the publication, Barros stated that he has been admitted to Santa Casa de Maringá, in the north of the state, since Friday (24). He said that the health situation is stable and that it has “good evolution”.

“I thank family, healthcare professionals, and friends for their support and prayers,” he wrote.

The brother of the deputy and former mayor of Maringá, Silvio Barros (PP), also hired Covid-19. He was hospitalized between March 30 and April 3, but is recovering from the disease.

The municipality is the third in Paraná in number of deaths due to the new coronavirus confirmed by the State Department of Health (Sesa). With five confirmations, the city is behind Curitiba, which has 14, and Londrina, with 12.

As of Saturday, Maringá had 53 confirmed cases of Covid-19 by the secretary of state. The city says there are 64 confirmations, five people hospitalized (three in the ICU), seven in isolation, and 46 recovered.
