The federal police arrested on the morning of Thursday (19), in Fortaleza, a former federal and state deputy during an operation to investigate the scheme of misappropriation of public funds from fictitious tenders.
The politician’s name has not been released. The agents found R $ 2 million in cash in a company related to him. The notes were hidden in television boxes.
According to information from the Federal Police, the criminal organization used oranges to forge competition. The scheme occurred 20 years ago in vehicle rental contracts by the government.
“The company used oranges to participate in the same bidding process, forging competition. It was a fictitious competition. One company won by competing with another from the same organization ”, explained the head of the Federal Police, Carlos Joésio Duarte.
In total, 27 search and seizure warrants were carried out in the states of Ceará, Rio Grande do Norte and Rio de Janeiro.
The first phase of Operation Km Livre took place four years ago. At that time, the Federal Police seized R $ 5.9 million in the company, with suspicions of being linked to the former deputy Adail Carneiro (PP). He denied that the money was his and that he had ties to the company.
Adail was a special advisor during the administration of the governor of Ceará, Camilo Santana (PT).
Federal Police did not confirm whether Adail was involved in the plan.
The City Council of Fortaleza has reported that it supports any type of investigation to investigate the use of public resources. It points out that public officials were not subject to court orders issued by the courts.
