At the time when several countries, including Latin America, announced the start of immunization against covid-19, the President of the Republic, Jair Bolsonaro, again minimized the delay in the release and acquisition, by the government, of vaccines. According to him, in the face of a “huge” consumer market in the country, it is the laboratories that should be interested in the authorization requests from the National Sanitary Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) and in selling the vaccine to Brazil.

“Brazil has 210 million inhabitants, a huge consumer market for anything. Didn’t the laboratories have to be interested in selling us? Why don’t you present documentation in Anvisa? “Bolsonaro asked a group of supporters in the Palácio da Alvorada, in Brasilia (DF). “People say I have to go after him. Who wants to sell (who has) ”, he modified.

Bolsonaro repeated again the story that the vaccine leaflets indicate that the consumer is responsible for the use of the drug and the possible side effects, and also that he will not be vaccinated, since he has already contracted covid-19.

According to the president, he has already signed “the check for R $ 20 billion” for the purchase of vaccines.

“There are a lot of people looking at that money,” he said, without naming names. “Impressive as one or another person we know, I will not say the name here, I would never worry about the lives of others. The concern is another. I’m not going to tell you what it is about ”, he amended, along the same lines.

Bolsonaro reiterated that he is not worried about the start of the vaccination campaign in the country, since the process depends on Anvisa. “If I go to Anvisa and say ‘run there’, they will say that I am interfering,” added the president.
