Electoral glue: Fill in your candidate details and have the numbers with you
The statement comes two days after the Regional Electoral Tribunal (TRE-RS) rejected the candidacy of the runner-up, André Cecchini (Patriota).
– It hurts so much to say that, it hurts, from the bottom of my heart, but we are not going to continue on this path. Unfortunately, last Monday we were surprised by the TRE’s decision, challenging my running mate. I was very surprised, it still seems strange to me, a decision that damages the law, damages the resolutions of the Superior Electoral Court, a totally political decision taken in the last week of the campaign. – He said in the video.

Fortunati described the decision to challenge the candidacy of his deputy as “illegal”, since Law 9,504 establishes that all candidate records, including resources, are judged and published up to 20 days before the elections. It also pointed out that Resolution 23,609, of the Superior Electoral Court of 2009, ratified the law.
“It is an absolutely political decision,” he said.
André Cecchini’s candidacy was challenged on the grounds that the registration was irregular, since it was carried out outside the legal deadline. Despite this, according to Fortunati, on October 18 Cechinni’s candidacy was approved “without reparations, since all the eligibility conditions were met.”

In other words, what the TRE did that week was against the law. I repeat, it was an illegal decision. “
During the nearly 20-minute video, Fortunati said that staying in the race for mayor of Porto Alegre could bring “legal insecurity.” He also said that although the ruling was issued at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, the sentence, necessary for the appeal, was only published at 08:33 a.m. on Wednesday, so it is practically impossible to judge the appeal in the TSE until Sunday, when the 1st shift.
