A game that went well beyond 90 minutes. And Flamengo remains concerned about the selection of Wilton Pereira Sampaio as referee for the confrontation with São Paulo, this Wednesday, at 9:30 p.m. (Brasilia), in Morumbi, for the quarterfinals of the Brazilian Cup. After the exchange request was rejected by the CBF arbitration committee, President Rodolfo Landim was more explicit in his complaints.

In an interview with ge, Landim revealed that the club has a dossier that justifies three points that attract his attention: difference of opinion, lack of transparency and repetition of the choice of referees that displease Rubro-Negro.. The visit of representatives from São Paulo to the CBF this Tuesday to access the VAR analysis on a goal from Fortaleza, was the last straw to stop the president:

– We understand that CBF’s behavior with São Paulo is different from that of other clubs. I never saw Gaciba say that there was a mistake in the championship, only once and the referee changed São Paulo’s game against Grêmio. Not by chance, what happened? Two clear penalties without marking and nobody went public to say that there was a mistake.

“The message that follows is:” Be careful if you make a mistake against São Paulo. “The signal is that when the error is against, it is suspended. When it is in favor, nothing happens.”

The move mentioned by Landim occurred in São Paulo’s defeat against Atlético-MG, in Mineirão, when Luciano had a goal disallowed due to an impediment and days later Leonardo Gaciba admitted that there was an error on the lines. Given the fact, the São Paulo players had the request to change the arbitration of the match against Grêmio, for the first round, accepted.

The document prepared by Flamengo’s performance analysis department points out images of unmarked penalties in favor of the club in touches of the hand and in favor of opponents in similar situations and asks direct questions to two referees: Wilton Pereira Sampaio and Leandro Vuaden. There is a table where the club indicates that the cards distributed by both are below average in club games:

– There is no frivolity. Flamengo is a professional club run by a board of directors with a name to watch out for. They are facts and figures. We have a study that shows the difference of criteria from referees. The number of cards distributed by them in the Flamengo games is much higher than the average for them in the Brasileirão, and they got players from important games.

“We do not understand certain behaviors and there is not even time to mitigate the situation, it seems that they are trying to make the atmosphere of the game (against São Paulo) bad.”

Landim also questions that the hindsight points to Flamengo’s absences in matches against direct rivals: Bruno Henrique against Inter, Willian Arão and Thiago Maia against São Paulo. Finally, the president returns to justify his position:

– What we are doing is based on facts, data, an analysis supported by the club’s technical area. We can talk about what happened with Flamengo and what happened with São Paulo. We see lack of judgment, dubious plays with different decisions. The lack of transparency is also annoying. In some movements, VAR movements are displayed and others are not. We don’t know if it was activated. And another aspect that worries us is the insistent choice of referees for Flamengo’s matches after the problems.

On October 20, the official CBF website published images of a visit by Rodolfo Landim to CBF president Rogério Caboclo. The rojinegro admitted that one of the issues addressed was related to refereeing problems, but the answers were always formal.
