Fire survivor in Ninho scores in a win for Palmeiras and gets excited in Allianz

Forward Pablo Ruan made his big debut for the Palmeiras U-17 team on Saturday afternoon. One of the survivors of the Ninho do Urubu fire, the young man scored in the 6-1 victory over Sport and was excited about the achievement achieved in Allianz Parque, for the Brazilian Championship of the category.

“First of all, I can only thank God and my family for all the support. At first everything was very difficult because of what happened, because I lost friends, practically brothers. God gave me strength and, today, I am here in Palmeiras in search of my dream, ”said Pablo.

Born in Curitiba, the young man spent two years in Flamengo and lived through the fire that ended with 10 deaths in February 2019. After leaving the club on his own, he was hired by Palmeiras at the beginning of the year and even competed in a sub-18, But, due to the pandemic, he made his debut in the U-17 team only this Saturday.

Placed by coach Artur Itiro at half-time, Pablo Ruan scored Palmeiras’ third goal against Sport with a shot from outside the area, 11 minutes into the second half. At the age of 17, the young man was very excited to hear his name through the Allianz Parque sound system.

“I am very happy for the goal and for helping the team,” summed up the forward from Palma. “This victory was very important for us to continue leading the Brazilian and gain the advantage. The goal was the result of work,” added Pablo Ruan.

With 19 points earned, Palmeiras leads Group A of the Brazilian Under-17 Championship, beating Vasco on goal difference. For the ninth day of the tournament, at 3:00 p.m. (Brasilia time) this Tuesday, the team will return to the field to face Bahia, as a visitor.
