The Rio de Janeiro Soccer Federation (Ferj) will organize a meeting next week with authorities and clubs to discuss the partial return of the public to soccer matches in the city, initially from October.

The information was published by Rádio Globo and confirmed by ge. At a press conference this Friday, the mayor of Rio, Marcelo Crivella, revealed the talks and stated that the idea is to reopen to an audience of “10 or 12 thousand people,” taking Maracana as an example.

– Our hope is that the people who go to the stadiums on Sunday will not go to the beach. We are trying to agree, until we anticipate the game times a bit. In the stadium we managed to control the distance and the use of the mask, which is not possible on the beaches – said Crivella.

The reopening would be for all the stadiums of the city, not just for the Maracana. A protocol with security guidelines is already being developed. The club that wants to play with the public must comply with the requirements established to obtain permission to organize the return of the fans.

All the bodies responsible for organizing a football match will participate in the meeting with Ferj. For now, CBF has yet to comment on the possibility.

The stadium audience has been banned since the coronavirus pandemic began. The last match with fans in Rio de Janeiro was between Vasco and Goiás, for the Brazil Cup, on March 12.

At the end of June, a document called “Measures for the return of sports activities – Soccer”, from the Sanitary Surveillance of the Municipality of Rio de Janeiro, established the rules for the return of the public to the city with a schedule of arrival at the stadium and at the entrance. sold out, fan orientation for marked seats in the stands, and mandatory masks at all locations. At that time, the forecast was 1/3 of the public still throughout July.
