The Defense Ministry reported on Friday that military planes were carrying generators and will send equipment to support power restoration in Amapá, which was hit by a blackout following a fire at the Electrical Substation last Tuesday.

According to the folder, the Armed Forces will transport “51 tons of materials that will be used urgently to restore the electricity supply in the state of Amapá.” In addition, the aircraft will carry oil purification machines.

“The mission, which began this Friday, must end next Saturday (07),” says the folder in a note. According to images released by the Defense earlier tonight, some FAB planes have already landed in the state capital.

The portfolio, commanded by General Fernando Azevedo e Silva, also noted in the statement that in addition to the operation in Amapá, the Armed Forces continue to be directly active in other national operations, such as the fight against the new coronavirus (Operation Covid-19), in the fires in the Amazon (Green Operation Brazil 2) and supporting the 2020 elections.

Partial expectation

The total restoration of power in Amapá should take up to ten days, according to the Minister of Mines and Energy, Bento Albuquerque. Previously, the minister had stated that the expectation was that, with the arrival of generators, today it would still be possible to restore around 60% of the energy in the state.

In a note released by the ministry tonight, the expectation remains that much of the power will be restored today. “There is the prospect that the level of oil purification necessary to activate transformer number 3 will be reached on Friday night and, with this, it would be possible to restore the load of around 70% of the electrical needs of the 14 affected municipalities with the lack of energy, ”he says.

The MME also listed some of the trips that the FAB will make in actions to restore electricity supply in the state of Amapá.

“A Hercules C-130 aircraft of the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) travels from Rio de Janeiro / RJ to São Luís / MA. In the capital of Maranhão, two more purification machines will be loaded on the FAB aircraft and transported to Macapá / AP, to increase the oil purification effort of the transformer number 3 that is in the substation ”, says the folder.-

According to the ministry, the generators will be distributors as defined by the state. “An FAB KC-390 plane also travels from Boa Vista / RR to Manaus / AM in order to transport 4 generators to Macapá / AP to attend, in an emergency manner, the essential activities that will be designated by the State Government.”
