Fired by Bahia on Sunday night, coach Mano Menezes spoke through his social networks about the episode that involved his departure from the Bahian club, the complaint made by Gerson, Flamengo midfielder, for a racial injury committed by Índio Ramírez, from Tricolor . In the statement, the technician said he opposed any act of racism.

Mano Menezes arrived in Bahia in September of this year to replace Roger Machado. His arrival was surrounded by good expectations, as the team had defensive problems. The coach, however, could not remedy the failures, and Bahia maintains the record of the worst defense of Brasileirão, after suffering 46 goals in 26 games. In total, Bahía played 24 games under Mano Menezes, with eight wins, two draws and 14 losses (36.1%) *.
After the game, Gerson del Flamengo revealed that he had been the victim of a racial injury by Ramírez during the game against Tricolor de Bahía and criticized the behavior of coach Mano menezes. The Premiere broadcast captured the audio of Gerson complaining to Mano about Ramirez; Coach then says that Gerson’s complaint would be a hoax (see video below).

Hours after the end of the game, Bahía announced the coach’s departure and stated that he would investigate Índio Ramírez’s case, on which he will comment later.

On this same occasion, we take the opportunity to announce that, in relation to the serious accusation of racism involving the Colombian Indio Ramírez, the club will take a position shortly after the investigation of the case – says the text released by the club.
Flamengo vice president Marcos Braz gave an interview after the game and asked for information about the episode. On social media, Vitória also posted a message of solidarity with Gerson.
Now without a coach, Bahia will return to the field next Sunday, when they face Internacional, at the Arena Fonte Nova, at 4pm (Brasilia time). Tricolor is ranked 16th in the Brasileirão table, with 28 points.
