The Brazilian police never killed as many people as last year. Almost 80% of them are black. The proportion of black police officers killed in 2019 has also increased. The data that reveal this has just been published in the 2020 Brazilian Public Safety Yearbook. They are part of a historical series that has been studied since 2013. POLICE LEGALITY
Deaths from police interventions increase from 75.4% of blacks murdered in 2018 to 79.1% of blacks murdered in 2019; Of the people killed by the police in 2019, 79.1% are black. In 2018, this percentage was 75.4%.

POLICE VICTIMIZATION
Murdered police officers increased from 51.7% of blacks among victims in 2018 to 65.1% of blacks among victims in 2019.
172 policemen were killed in 2019 and 313 in 2018.
