A Europe became the second region in the world, after Latin America, to surpass the 250,000 mark killed by COVID-19, according to a Reuters count made on Saturday (24).
The continent has also registered records of infections from the disease in the last two weeks.

On Thursday (22), 200,000 daily infections were reported for the first time in the region, and many countries in the south of the continent registered their highest number of daily cases this week.
Europe accounts for nearly 19% of Covid-19 deaths worldwide and about 22% of the number of cases, according to the Reuters tally.
The number of new Covid-19 cases in Europe doubles in 10 days
United Kingdom, Italy, France, Russia, Belgium me Spain represent almost two-thirds of the approximately 250,000 deaths recorded so far. In total, there are 8 million cases in Europe.
The UK leads the continent in death toll from the disease with 45,000, followed by Italy, Spain, France and Russia.
On Thursday (22), British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that his country cannot depend on a vaccine and will have to take other measures to stop the pandemic.
