Registration for the National High School Exam (Enem) 2020 will open on Monday (11) amid a series of requests for postponement (read below). Candidates must register on the official website of the event (https://enem.inep.gov.br/participante/) by May 22nd.

This year, the face-to-face tests will be held on November 1 and 8. The first digital version of the exam will be on November 22 and 29.

The registration fee costs R $ 85 and must be paid between May 11 and 28, in bank branches, lotteries and post offices.

Attention: even those students who obtained the fee exemption must enroll in Enem. Applicants who did not request an exemption, but who meet one of the criteria to receive the benefit, will be eligible even without the request. Inep informed that it will guarantee the free registration fee to all the participants that conform to the profiles specified in Enem’s notices, even without the formal request of those registered.

“The rule applies both to participants who choose Enem in print as well as to those who choose digital Enem and it even applies to those exempt in 2019 who missed the two days of testing and have not justified the absence” – reports the Enem website.

It is necessary to enter the exam website and report the CPF and RG number. A password will be created that will also allow you to verify the confirmation card and the candidate’s results. It is also necessary to have a valid cell phone number and an email for the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research (Anep), which organizes the exam, to send communications.

According to the agency, until May 22 it will be possible to update the contact information, change the city of the exams, change the option of foreign language and change specialized and / or specific assistance.

For applicants who need specific care, such as people with disabilities or breastfeeding, the request must also be made before May 22.

Between May 25 and June 12, it will be possible to make the request for assistance by social name, if the transsexual participant prefers not to be called by the name of the civil registry.

The confirmation card will be available only in October, even without a specific day. In it, there will be a summary of the main information for the candidate: registration number; date, time and place of the tests; data on specialized care (if requested); and option of foreign language (English or Spanish).

Requests for suspension of notification.

Since the launch of Enem’s announcement, a series of requests for deferment came from different institutions. The most recent was carried out by public universities and federal colleges in Rio de Janeiro. The document signed by the leaders of 11 institutions rejects “any attempt to spread a falsified sense of normality.”

They argue that, if Enem’s schedule is maintained, there will be an increase in inequalities in access to higher education.

The Secretaries of the National Council of Education (Consed) also made a request arguing that the pandemic and teaching conditions will exacerbate inequalities in the country. In a note, the Board states that students in public schools will be most affected by failing to postpone the exam.

“For Consed, maintaining the published schedule, especially exam dates, should increase inequalities among high school students across the country in access to higher education institutions. Even taking into account the solutions and tools being used using implanted in the private and public networks to minimize the losses of the suspension period of the face-to-face classes, they will not reach all Brazilian students, especially those most in need “- says the note.

The National Student Union (UNE) and the Brazilian Union of Secondary Students (Ubes) requested the suspension of the notification and stated that the Ministry of Education and Inep do not show “sensitivity at the moment.”
