Emergency aid has become a problem for lawmakers who want the government to determine a new round of emergency aid by March 2021.
Senator Esperedião Amin (Progressistas-SC) is co-author of a project that defends the extension of emergency aid of R $ 300 and the decree of public calamity until the end of March, he wants the federal government to signal something to the population, since either by supporting the legislative project for its approval in Congress, or by editing a Provisional Measure (MP) with the extension of the benefit.

The senator said that the government needs to resolve this situation, giving a solution whatever it may be.

“The government will have to come up with a solution, whatever the name of the project, if basic income emergency aid, or some other. I believe as much as the minister [da Economia] Paulo Guedes that we will have growth in ‘V’, which will be very good, but not instantaneous. Therefore, everything we have invested so far in social peace, in guaranteeing the purchasing power of the population most in need, especially after having discovered the number of ‘invisible’ [profissionais autônomos], it is imperative that the presidential decree and the period of calamity be extended, “said Amin, who signs the bill together with Senator Alessandro Vieira (Cidadania-SE).

Amin said that the resumption promised by the Minister of Economy will not be instantaneous, it is necessary “to continue with help for those who have not yet found work.”

But, while the senator believes so, the government has already said that the state of public calamity that ends today (31) will not extend, much less emergency aid.
The senator believes that until the vaccine arrives, the state of public calamity and the extension of R $ 300 aid should be extended.

“These facts of the world will guide the government, also taking care that they are not harmful to the market, of course. We need to understand that vaccination has not started and the pandemic has not ended, so it is important that the State of Calamity continues for another three months, “said Amin.

The bill, presented on the 14th, and due to the recess, has not yet been read in plenary, and cannot be analyzed by the Commission, nor can it enter the Senate voting list.
