RIO – As the electoral race advances on the eve of the second round, the exchanges of accusations, sometimes false, against opponents multiply in apocryphal brochures and anonymous publications on the Internet, some of them with topics such as legalizing abortion, decriminalizing the consumption of drugs and other ideological guidelines.

Last week, the dispute in Porto Alegre turned into a police case. The candidate Sebastião Melo (MDB) went to the headquarters of the Civil Police to file a police complaint against his opponent Manuela D’Ávila (PCdoB). The state deputy accuses the rival of calling him a racist without proof. That’s because days after a black man was killed by security guards at Carrefour in the capital of Rio Grande do Sul, Manuela’s campaign ran an ad showing statements by Vice President Hamilton Mourão denying racism in Brazil and the candidate of the PSD defeated in the first round, Valter Nagelstein, who criticized the black PSOL legislators. The two present themselves as Melo’s allies.
“I cannot accept that the debate reaches that level. What they are doing is criminal. One can lose or win an election, but the biography must be preserved. I fight against racism and all kinds of prejudices, “said Melo.

In response, Manuela said that the opponent had not been able to publicly disagree “with the literal statements of his allies” and that he was trying to “create an electoral fact” from that.
“It would be much easier to say: I don’t agree with Mourão and Valter. But no, whoever denounces racist statements acts against me, “wrote the candidate. “He will answer legally for this: we will file a moral damage action for injuries and defamation and with a libelous report by the police.”
In Recife, the Electoral Court ruled that candidate João Campos (PSB) should stop distributing pamphlets against Marília Arraes (PT) that were distributed in front of the religious temples of the city. “A true Christian does not vote for Marília Arraes,” says the material, printed with a photo of the PT. There it is also written that Marília defends the legalization of drugs, abortion and gender ideology, took the Bible from the Recife Chamber and belongs to the PT, “which persecutes Christians throughout Brazil.”

In her complaint, Marília Arraes stated that the brochures were produced and distributed by Campos because the cart used to distribute the material had the candidate’s campaign design.
Judge Virgínia Gondim Dantas, of the Seventh Electoral Zone, understood that it is not possible to prove that the pamphlets are from the Campos campaign, but since he was the beneficiary of the action, it would be up to him to interrupt the disclosure. The material has the effect of “creating mental and emotional states in the voters, without revealing the integrity of the speech of the candidate Marília Arraes”, the sentence also says.
Interview with João Campos: ‘It is highly unlikely that PSB and PT will be together in 2022’
In São Gonçalo, in the Metropolitan Region of Rio, Mrs. Flordelis, accused of murdering her husband, Pastor Anderson do Carmo, became a character in the electoral race. Yesterday he went to social networks to deny that he had declared his support for the candidate Dimas Gadelha (PT), after a publication with a photo of them together circulating on the networks. Flordelis clarified that the image had been made years ago, during an October Pink campaign.
Gadelha also took a position on the issue. “So far we have neither asked nor asked for support from Ms. Flordelis for our campaign. Lying to the population like this is disrespectful, ”says the note posted on social networks. The candidate recorded a video, in which he calls his opponent, Captain Nelson (Avante), “Captain Lie”, accusing him of spreading the rumor.
– The lie today is that Dimas has the support of Flordelis. Lie! The Flordelis group, their party, the PSD, is with you, captain – Gadelha replied.
