An Italian couple from the earthquake had to be rescued on the high seas after deciding to travel by boat in search of the “edge of the earth.” The couple, who are from Venice, left the island of Lampedusa, in the Mediterranean Sea, and days later they were lost in the middle of the sea.

According to the newspaper Clarín, the couple ended up being rescued by the doctor Salvatore Zichichi, who works in the Italian Ministry of Health.

“The funny thing about this is that they used a compass, which works according to the magnetism of the Earth, a concept that they, as people who believe in the flat earth, should reject,” Zichichi told the Italian newspaper La Stampa.

After returning to Italy, the couple had to spend several weeks in quarantine, due to the new coronavirus pandemic.
