Corinthians has a new president. In the early hours of Saturday night, the club’s Electoral Commission finished counting the votes and confirmed Duílio Monteiro Alves as the new black president starting next year, with about 38% of the votes.

At the end of the vote, the former director alvinegro, who represents the situation, accumulated 1,081 votes, followed by Augusto Melo, with 939 and Mário Gobbi, with 783. There were also 56 blank votes and 14 invalid votes. Of this total, eight votes are sub judice and were accepted by the club without recourse; members went to court to vote even if they had missed the payment deadline.
He takes office on January 4 and moves ahead of Timão the next three years, from 2021 to 2023. The leader represents another slate, but he was the chosen candidate to continue the work of the Plaque of Renewal and Transparency, which now has six victories consecutive. – He has been in charge of the club since 2007 and will be in office for 16 years.
The vote went well and there was no confusion during the day at Parque São Jorge. In the weeks leading up to Election Day, the atmosphere was one of concern for security: already in the final stretch of voting, fans arrived to protest in front of Parque São Jorge.

Corinthians members also voted for the lists that will be on the Deliberative Council for the next three years, from 2021 to 2023. Eight lists were the winners, each with 25 members, with a total of 200 directors. The ninth and tenth most voted are alternates.
