Councilman Wesley (PROS) ignored Duda as a woman and said that Professor Marli was the most voted in the legislature that starts this Friday
The councilor with the most votes in Belo Horizonte, Professor Duda Salabert (PDT) had her gender identity ignored and returned to defend her position as a transsexual transvestite woman during the inauguration ceremony this Friday (1st). In her first speech at the house, the parliamentarian highlighted the oppression suffered by people like her and asked for respect. “I hope that this house does not appear in the police pages again. I hope that no councilman leaves this house arrested for racism or transphobia,” he said.
The councilwoman’s speech came in response to a provocation from re-elected councilor Wesley (PROS), who, during his speech, congratulated colleague Professor Marli (PP) as the most voted woman in the capital. The record, in fact, is that of Duda, who was elected by more than 30,000 voters in November 2020.
In an interview after the speech, the MP said she intends to give her colleague a second chance. “If it is repeated, as a teacher and even as a pedagogical character, I understand that I will have to go to a police station and fulfill my role as a citizen so that he is responsible for the consequences of the act,” he declared.
Yet just as the councilors were voting to elect the House Board of Directors, Wesley once again provoked his colleague. Duda and Nely Aquino (Podemos) ran for mayor, and the councilman, casting his vote for Nely, said: “A woman in the presidency,” emphasizing the word woman and hinting that the other board would be different.
After the end of the session, from which Nely was victorious, Wesley said that he does not intend to respect the gender of Professor Duda Salabert and that he is not afraid to respond for transphobia in case of complaint. “If that happens, she may also be responsible for the cristofobia,” he said. The crime he cites, however, does not exist.
In plenary session, Duda went on to affirm that, as an evangelical Christian, she is available to dialogue with the religious group of the Chamber. When asked if, as a possible bank leader, he would accept his colleague, Wesley reiterated that only if Duda recognized what he called sin and changed. “People say that Jesus is peace and love, but he is also justice, he welcomes the sinner but says ‘Go and sin no more,'” he quoted.
