Drivers face congested roads in SP on return from Santos and Region vacations

Drivers who decided to return home on Monday (7), the third day of a long holiday, find slowness on the roads to the capital of São Paulo. Since Friday (4), more than 260 thousand vehicles have descended to the coast of São Paulo, filling up the roads and how Baixada Santista beaches.

According to information from Ecovias, the concessionaire that manages the Anchieta Imigrantes System (SAI), about 220,000 drivers climbed the Serra do Mar until 6 pm this Monday. The weather is cloudy with fog at the top of the mountain and visibility is partial, so the Planalto Interconnection is blocked towards São Paulo and towards the coast, from Anchieta to Imigrantes.

Also according to the concessionaire, Ecovias implemented Operation Subida (2×8) due to the movement towards the São Paulo capital. For the ascent, drivers use the north lane of Via Anchieta and both lanes of Rodovia dos Imigrantes.

The descent of the mountain is done only by the southern track of Anchieta. Both sections experience heavy traffic, as do the Cônego Domênico Rangoni and Padre Manoel da Nóbrega highways.

Bathers flocked to the area’s beaches in three long vacation days. On Monday, cloudy weather did not stop tourists from flocking to the outskirts of coastal cities. Santos also registered a great movement this Sunday (6).

The Municipal Civil Guard (GCM) fined residents and tourists who once again disrespected the mandatory use of face protection masks and avoid crowds. Greater flexibility for beach activities, even amid the Covid-19 pandemic, has increasingly motivated tourists to travel to cities in the region.
