After scoring the two goals of São Paulo’s victory against Fluminense by 2 to 1, today (26), in Maracanã, for the 27th round of the Brazilian Championship, and consolidating as the top scorer of the São Paulo Tricolor in 2020, with 22 goals, striker Brenner is full of morale with coach Fernando Diniz.
The São Paulo coach even mentioned Romário, four-time world champion with the Brazilian team, when he praised Brenner. Diniz even used the expression “goal charisma” to define the opportunism of the tricolor scorer within the area.
“It is always important [marcar gols], especially for players who play head-on, and who have this condition of scoring goals. Brenner, I usually say, has goal charisma, in addition to Luciano. It is important to score because it increases self-esteem and the player feels more and more confident. Brenner, in a special way, feels little about it, even because of his young age, characteristic of players who score a lot of goals and who trust their own talent, ”said Diniz.
“He lost the goal there against Grêmio [jogo de ida da semifinal da Copa do Brasil], but I don’t charge that much. It was a play that, naturally, if he had ten more balls he would lose only one. He does not feel much, he knows how to incorporate it, as Romário did, he does not regret what happens and he is always focused on the next opportunity. It is very natural for a player with this profile to score two goals immediately afterwards. I think it’s important to him, who loves to score goals. What he likes the most is scoring goals, that increases his self-esteem for the fourth game, for sure ”, he added.
Brenner opened the scoring in the first half of the “car” at the goalkeeper’s far post after a cross from Reinaldo. In the second stage, when the team was not doing well and had allowed Fluminense to draw, the young center forward showed coldness, taking advantage of the excess at the entrance of the small area to “kill” the game.
Brenner’s team takes the lead in the Brazilian. The Tricolor already has 56 points, seven ahead of Atlético-MG, second classified, with 49.
São Paulo now focuses on the Brazilian Cup. Next Wednesday (30), the team of Daniel Alves and company will play the second leg of the semifinal, against Grêmio, in Morumbi. The Paulines need to reverse the advantage of the gauchos, who won the first match, 1-0, in Porto Alegre.
