São Paulo, today the leader of the Brazilian Championship, learned from the mistakes made in the season, in the opinion of coach Fernando Diniz, who more than once swayed at the post after eliminations that generated turbulence in the club, as against Mirassol, in Paulista, and in defeat against River Plate, in the Libertadores.
This Thursday, São Paulo beat Goiás 3-0 in Goiânia, in a late game in the first round, and took the lead from Atlético-MG. Even with one game less than Galo, Diniz’s team reached 44 points, compared to 42 for the vice-leader.
– The pains of the past made the team learn and we were improving our internal relationships. We have to continue like this, we have played good games, but we have things to improve – said Diniz at a press conference after the match against Goiás.
– Oscillation is normal in football, as in life. I think that the passage of the team through difficult moments made us reach the level we are living.

The coach stopped expectations after the arrival of the team at the top of the Brazilian. Diniz insisted that São Paulo must continue to improve to seek the title.
– The pressure has to make you look inside. We have to control the ability to improve. Now São Paulo has to try to improve, the championship is far from over. Certainly there are things to improve the aspects that we present here today.

The coach praised the performance of the defense in Thursday’s game, in which he did not concede goals. And he praised the duo Arboleda and Bruno Alves, who returned to the starting eleven after being undone at the start of the championship, in one of the team’s crisis of the year.
– Arboleda is a player and a person who has always had a very good relationship. Like Bruno, they left the team and came back better. We have four players for two positions. We cannot say that we have a support. I think that the collective work and understanding of the players is fundamental.
