After a long time apart and irreducible, Flamengo and Diego Alves got along well. This Thursday, the vice president of red and black soccer, Marcos Braz, met with Eduardo Maluf, manager of the goalkeeper, and the parties reached an agreement to renew the athlete’s contract for one year.
During the lengthy meeting, the two parties reached a consensus on the values and terms of the contract, something that had been stalling the deal and causing a stalemate in recent months.

The impasse came after Diego Alves accepted a renewal proposal, with a salary increase of 30% and a duration of two years. The numbers, however, were later vetoed by Flamengo’s financial department, which upset the goalkeeper.
The board then submitted a new proposal, prepared within the financial limits set by the club. The offer was for a 10% salary increase, with a duration of one year. Diego refused.
In Flamengo’s last game, against Santos, the red-black players expressed their support for the goalkeeper. Gabigol went to celebrate one of his goals with Diego Alves. In the second, he pointed at his partner from a distance. The veteran was even the team captain.
