A hypnosis clinic is being investigated by the Civil Police of the Federal District for offering “treatment of homosexuality”, popularly known as “gay cure”. The practice of sex reversal therapy is prohibited by the Federal Council of Psychology (CFP) and, in 2019, it was suspended by the Federal Supreme Court (STF).

The term “homosexuality” was withdrawn from circulation by the World Health Organization (WHO) 30 years ago, when homosexuality was classified as a disease. “We are going to analyze if there is a crime of illegal exercise of the profession, homotransphobia or any other”, explained the delegate Ângela Maria dos Santos to the Metropoles portal.

The case is being investigated by the Specialized Commissariat for the Suppression of Racial, Religious or Sexual Orientation Discrimination Crimes or Against the Elderly or Disabled (Decrin). The Federal Legislative Chamber (CLDF) also called the Public Ministry.

According to the website Hipnoticus, the service to “treat homosexuality” costs R $ 29,990 and generates results in six months. Hypnosis is carried out using the method “Psychotherapy without failures”, used by the hypnotherapist Gabriel Henrique de Azevêdo Veloso.

Wanted by G1, Gabriel Henrique denied that he offers a cure for LGBTQIA + people. “It was a misunderstanding. The word homosexuality [sic] it has a negative connotation and has already been removed from the site, ”he said.

“There are people who seek this type of treatment, they do not force it on anyone. There is no cure for homosexuals, no phobia or prejudice, quite the opposite. The homosexual client who wants to be treated can be treated without changing his sexual orientation, it was a shame for the term ”, explained the hypnotherapist to G1.
