A couple of businessmen accused of crimes committed almost 20 years ago were arrested on Friday (19) at a luxury inn in Praia dos Garcez, in the municipality of Jaguaripe (BA). The place is one of the main tourist destinations in the lower south of the state.
According to the Civil Police, Leandro Silva Troesch and Shirley da Silva Figueredo were at large since August 7, 2018, when their arrests were ordered by the Justice. Both had already been sentenced to 14 and nine years in prison, respectively, for robbery and extortion through the kidnapping of a woman.
When they were located by the police, the couple was surprised by agents of the Territorial Police Station (DT) of Valença, in charge of executing the judicial orders that were open.
The two were then subjected to examinations for physical injuries and were transferred to the Mata Escura Penitentiary Complex, in the Bahian capital, where they are expected to serve their sentences.

The crimes for which Leandro and Shirley ended up being convicted date back to May 10, 2001 and would have occurred in Salvador. In addition to the couple, three other people were also denounced by the Public Ministry for their participation in the criminal action.
In the process it is said that, after being kidnapped, the woman attacked by the quartet was kept in private prison in a rented building with the participation of the couple. The victim would only be released after the payment of R $ 35,000 in ransom.
Also according to the court order, Leandro was driving the car used to execute the victim, in addition to having withdrawn money from his bank account. Shirley, in turn, was in charge of looking for the ransom amount.
At that time, the couple and the others involved were arrested on the spot. Years later, Leandro and Shirley began to respond to the process in freedom.
The entrepreneurs are the owners of the inn where they were located and also have another high-level development in the same region.
On the social networks of the two ventures – which have more than 80 thousand followers – they shared selfies of the routine on the coast and photos in the company of famous guests.
