The 32-year-old dental surgeon Gionnar Coelho Loiola was one of the victims of the massacre that left five dead and one wounded in Quiterianópolis, in the interior of Ceará. The case occurred in the early hours of the afternoon of this Sunday (18), on Manuel Vieira de Carvalho street. Gionnar Coelho was the son of a reserve sergeant of the Military Police.
According to information from the victim’s brother, the journalist Nathan Loiola, Gionnar lived and worked in an office in the city of Novo Oriente, and had gone to lunch in Quiterianópolis.
According to witnesses, the victims were consuming alcoholic beverages when four armed men entered the scene, asked the victims to lie down, and fired.
In a note, the Ministry of Public Security and Social Defense (SSPDS) reported that the six men who were at the scene were hit. Five of them died. The sixth victim was rescued to a hospital unit.
The Ministry also reported that reinforcements from the Civil Police, the Military Police and an aircraft from the Integrated Coordination of Air Operations (Ciopaer) were sent to assist in efforts to capture those responsible for the crimes. The four suspects in the crime fled and were not identified.
